The Florida Alliance for Renewable Energy “FARE” is a coalition of concerned individuals, businesses, communities, associations, policy makers, non-profits, and renewable energy producers. FARE is dedicated to educating and engaging Floridians on Renewable Energy Dividends. RED's have proven to be the most wide-spread and effective legislation for the promotion of renewable energy. Support FARE today and help secure a future for Florida that includes job creation, energy independence and environmental stewardship.
FARE, the Alliance for Renewable Energy, with a focus on North America, is an alliance of policymakers, renewable energy experts, citizens, research institutions, and large and small businesses that came together in the Spring of 2008. Our goal is to rapidly increase the shift from fossil fuels to clean, renewable energy. Our strategy is to create awareness of and build support for ‘the world’s most effective renewable energy policies’—‘Renewable Energy Dividends (RED's).
Our mission is to educate, organize and represent beneficiaries of the Renewable Energy Dividend policy mechanism. We are launching a campaign to bring awareness of the need for the advancement of a RED policy. To gain a broad support for this effort, we will be engaging in a three pronged approach. First, educate and influence the policy makers, elected officials and decision makers. Second, educate the current and future members of the alliance through workshops, board meetings and presentations. Third, educate and stimulate the public into taking action through their support and involvement.
Stakeholders in FARE include renewable energy producers, individual residents of the state of Florida, community organizations, municipalities, elected officials, ranchers, farmers, commercial real estate holders, developers, manufacturers, non profits and associations.
The reasons RED policy will be effective are simple but very powerful. First, the policy is transparent and easy to understand. Second, anyone and everyone who wishes to produces renewable energy will have access to do so, thereby creating a level playing field for producers, individuals and businesses of all sizes. Third, because the policy provides no limit or cap on the upside of production, it allows for a truly self directed market. Fourth and perhaps most important, REDs offers the ability to be financed, creating a whole new lending market and a whole new industry.
Our goal is to represent one collective effort showing support for advancing rapid, widespread deployment of renewable energy in the state of Florida. Our alliance will act as a public face in front of elected officials, potential members, community organizations, municipalities,like-minded initiatives, and the media. The alliance will also serve as an information hub, acting as a central source for collection and distribution of news, whitepapers, press releases and member activity.
Our three basic platforms for the RED mechanism are job creation, energy independence and environmental stewardship. During the 2009 legislative session we will advocate implementation of REDs with the House and Senate in Florida; as well as the Governor and his team.
